Who I am
I'm David, and Absolute Plumbing & Heating is my one-man business. I've been plumbing and fitting heating in and around Exeter since 2010, from my home in Stoke Canon just north of the city. Gas work is carried out with P Harman, Gas Safe registered, and I trained with OFTEC for oil boilers, though I'm not currently OFTEC registered, which matters here because so many Devon homes are off the gas grid.
I do the lot myself: emergencies, boilers, bathrooms, heating systems and the small jobs that bigger firms won't send anyone out for. If I quote it, I do it, and if something's not right afterwards you ring me directly.
How I work
- Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm. Out-of-hours by arrangement only, and I say so rather than promise 24/7.
- Honest arrival times. I'm one person, so I'll tell you when I can really be there.
- Prices before work starts. £110 emergency callout including the first hour, £60 an hour for booked work, fixed quotes for bigger jobs.
- Repair before replace. If your boiler's worth fixing, I'll say so.
- Tidy. Dust sheets down, mess taken away.
Qualifications and cover
- Gas work: carried out with P Harman, Gas Safe registered engineer, covering gas boilers, central heating, hobs and fires. ID card shown at the door.
- OFTEC trained (past training, not currently OFTEC registered): oil boilers, tanks and oil-fired heating.
- Public liability insurance in place.
- Landlord gas safety certificates (CP12) issued.

Are you Gas Safe registered?
I work with P Harman, a Gas Safe registered engineer, who carries out and signs off the gas work: boiler installations, repairs and annual servicing. We work together on projects, so you get one point of contact and the gas side certified under a current registration. His ID card is shown at the door and his registration can be checked on the Gas Safe Register. For oil boilers I trained with OFTEC and have years of hands-on experience, though I'm not currently OFTEC registered, so I'll tell you plainly if a job needs a registered installer to sign it off.
Do you guarantee your work?
Yes. Repairs and installations are guaranteed, new boilers carry the manufacturer's warranty which I register for you, and power flushes are guaranteed for 12 months.
Do you cover my area?
Exeter and about 40 minutes around it. The areas page lists every town with a travel time.
