How I approach it
I don't sell boilers, I fit them, and I'll tell you if your current one is worth keeping. When it isn't, I survey the house, size the boiler for how you actually use hot water, and give you a fixed written price that includes everything: the boiler, flue, filter, controls, removal of the old one and the paperwork.
What I deal with
Free survey
I look at the boiler, the flue route, the gas supply, the radiators and the hot water demand, then recommend a size and type rather than the most expensive box.
Combi, system or regular
Combi suits most Exeter homes with one bathroom. Bigger houses or two showers at once usually want a system boiler and an unvented cylinder. I'll explain the difference plainly.
What's included
Boiler, flue, magnetic filter, chemical flush, controls, gas safety check, commissioning, Building Regulations notification, and the warranty registered in your name.
Brands
Worcester Bosch, Vaillant and Ideal as standard. Others on request. Manufacturer warranties are typically 7 to 10 years when installed and serviced by a registered engineer.
Old boiler removed
Taken away and disposed of. Pipework tidied and made good.
Aftercare
The annual service that keeps the warranty valid is from £95, and if anything's wrong in the first weeks you ring me, not a helpline.

Questions people ask
How much is a new boiler in Exeter?
It depends on the boiler, the flue and whether the system needs work, so I won't quote a number without seeing the house. You get a fixed written price after a free survey, and that's the price you pay.
Which boiler is best for my home?
The one sized for your hot water, not the one with the biggest margin. I'll ask how many bathrooms, how many people and how you use hot water, then recommend.
Do new boilers come with a warranty?
Yes. Worcester Bosch, Vaillant and Ideal give 7 to 10 years depending on model, registered by me on your behalf and kept valid by an annual service.
How long does an installation take?
A straight swap is usually a day. Moving the boiler, changing from a regular to a combi, or adding a cylinder can take two.
Are you Gas Safe registered?
I work with P Harman, a Gas Safe registered engineer, who carries out and signs off the gas work: boiler installations, repairs and annual servicing. We work together on projects, so you get one point of contact and the gas side certified under a current registration. His ID card is shown at the door and his registration can be checked on the Gas Safe Register. For oil boilers I trained with OFTEC and have years of hands-on experience, though I'm not currently OFTEC registered, so I'll tell you plainly if a job needs a registered installer to sign it off.
When can you come?
Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm. Same-day for breakdowns where I can, and an honest arrival time when you ring. Out-of-hours by arrangement only.
