Annual oil boiler service
Full clean-out of the combustion chamber and baffles, burner cleaned, new nozzle and new long-life oil line, combustion tested with an analyser, safety and wear-and-tear check, written record for your warranty or landlord file. £170.
Breakdown repairs
No heat, no hot water, lockouts, smoke, smells, noisy burner, boiler cutting out. Diagnosed properly, fixed with the right part, not a reset and a hope.
Oil boiler replacement
Grant, Worcester Bosch, Firebird and Warmflow condensing boilers, floor-standing or wall-hung, internal or external. Surveyed and quoted as a fixed price.
Oil tank supply and installation
Bunded plastic tanks to current regulations, sited and based properly, old tank decommissioned and removed. Quoted after a site visit.
Fuel supply problems
Air locks, frozen or waxed lines in winter, sludge and water in the tank, blocked filters. Tiger loops and filters fitted to stop it happening again.
Heating system work
Radiators, pumps, motorised valves, controls and thermostats, power flushing of sludged systems. Everything on the wet side of the boiler as well as the boiler itself.
No heating or hot water?
Before you ring, check three things: is there oil in the tank (gauges lie, so dip it if you can), has the boiler locked out (a red light or reset button), and is the power on at the isolator switch. Press reset once. If it locks out again, don't keep pressing it, that floods the chamber with oil. Ring 07766 501664.

How often should an oil boiler be serviced?
Once a year, by an OFTEC trained engineer. It keeps the boiler efficient and safe, keeps the manufacturer's warranty valid, and catches the worn nozzle or tired photocell before it turns into a January breakdown. Late summer or early autumn is the best time to book.
What does an oil boiler service cost?
£170 for the full annual service. That includes a complete clean-out of the combustion chamber and baffles, cleaning the Riello burner, a new nozzle, a new long-life flexible oil line, combustion testing with a flue gas analyser, a safety and wear-and-tear check of the components, and a written record. Larger parts such as a burner door board are quoted before fitting.
Which oil boiler brands do you work on?
All the common ones: Grant, Worcester Bosch, Firebird, Warmflow, and older Boulter, Trianco and Thermecon units. For replacements I usually recommend Grant or Worcester Bosch condensing boilers, and I'll explain the difference in price and efficiency rather than just pushing one.
Should I replace my oil tank at the same time as the boiler?
Not automatically. If the tank is a single-skin steel one over about 20 years old, or a plastic one that's bulging or discoloured, it's worth doing while everything's disturbed anyway. Modern bunded tanks meet the current regulations and protect you against a spill, which can be a very expensive clean-up. I'll look at it during the survey and tell you honestly.
